After a bit more climbing I finally reached Andrews Glacier and the lake, or tarn, at its base.

By this time of the summer Andrews always looks a bit tired and dirty, with much of the previous winter's snows having melted away. But because it never melts away totally, and actually has some minor movement down the slope over the years, it is technically a glacier (as opposed to just a permanent snowfield, which may not melt away, but has no movement).
