Looking up the slope also provided some interesting photos of light and dark.

The fresh snow had yet to be tracked with footprints of hikers on this morning. I always enjoy breaking a new trail, despite the fact that it uses twice as much energy as following in someone's footsteps.

I did find myself taking many "photo breaks" to catch my breath. These early spring hikes always highlight how much your leg muscles have slackened over the winter!
