Normally when the sun gets too high in the sky it is difficult to get any good photos. The lighting becomes too strong and harsh. The images you end up with are usually flat and uninteresting.
But there are always exceptions, if you keep an open eye.
In this case it was due to the fact that I was in a thick forest where the light came through the tree branches in patches.
This led to complex patterns of light and dark on the forest floor around me. Occasionally I would come across a scene that I found intriguing.
